If there is one thing that I have grown to appreciate with time is a well designed space. A well designed space to me is one that creates a warm and inviting atmosphere. And honestly, who does not want their guests to feel welcomed when in their homes? Interior design plays a key role in creating this 'atmosphere'. I believe that how a space's interior is designed, can affect an individual's mood and how we function. So when The Design Practice (DP): a Harare based interior design firm, reached out to me to photograph their most recent home, I jumped at the opportunity - armed with my camera and ready to learn new design tricks!
Meet Vimbayi: the head interior designer at The Design Practice. DP is a resourceful and creative business that offers personalized interior and exterior design services.
When evaluating a space, they aim to offer tailor-made solutions based on the client's taste, budget and use of the space.
I took great interest in how varied the lighting in this home was. It was a showcase and a true testament to the power of good lighting!
The furniture on display was not only built by local artisans but was also designed by Vimbayi herself. Talk about talent! Her influence and her luxurious taste was evident in every piece of furniture all the way to the drapes - from the textile to how they hang on the wall!
The kitchen turned out to be one of my favorite spaces. Marvel with me at the level of organization in this space! It's all about the neutrals - which are so on trend at the moment - and the clean lines. The team definitely has their finger on the pulse of what is current in the industry.
I moved into the kids room next! It was so full of color and vibrancy. Design Practice did an amazing job mixing prints and textures.
A photoshoot is never complete without a portrait of my client! Meet the lovely Vimbayi. It was amazing working with you. Thus far, I have had the privilege of photographing spaces and events that they have done and they never cease to amaze me. I got so inspired by this #ladyboss that I will write up a second post introducing you all to The Design Practice Exterior Partner, Edith.
