Hi everyone! Meet Tapuwa - the coolest 16 year old on the block! I met Tapuwa in person on the day of her sweet sixteenth birthday party. When I arrived on location, the party took me back to my teenage days: talk about energy! The energy Tapuwa and her friends had was electrifying. They hugged, talked and danced with so much life. They made life seem so easy, which got me longing to stay in that moment forever.
We started the shoot with portraits of Tapuwa and her family. Tapuwa radiated with so much beauty. She was a natural during the shoot, I must say that I truly enjoyed flashin' away when she was in front of the lens!
I got to meet her mother and relatives who were all so accommodating and loving. I immediately felt part of the celebration. Tapuwa's mother joined in for some portrait shots and I just loved seeing the love they shared. As for her mother's looks, I kept telling her that I wanted to look just like her when my daughters turn 16! What is she drinking and where can I get some!
It was time to get the party started when friends and family came through. I must say that I couldn't stop my legs from dancing along. The atmosphere and energy took me back to my pre-mommy days. I even felt that I could say that this party was LIT!
The DJ had the latest tunes and he got all Tapuwa's friends on the dance floor. Neither the music nor the food disappointed! The snacks and drinks were enjoyed and I snapped away enjoying the new feeling that even I could 'hang' with the cool kids! lol ...
It was my first time at Vanila Moon and I loved the ambience of the venue. In addition to the great services offered, they also have beautiful gardens, which made for a photographer's scenic dreams!
I must say that I enjoyed every bit of Tapuwa's sweet 16 party. I wish Tapuwa many years of long life and success in all she does. She is an intelligent lady with a bright future ahead.

Time always seems to fly by so quickly - especially when trying to savor family moments! I remember when I was 'that' child who wanted photographs all the time: it was either me in the photograph or me snapping. Looking back at those pictures, I relive these moments and they spark so many blissful memories!
I was excited to do this family photo shoot because so many family moments can be fleeting and we forget to savor them - enter photography! As we started shooting, the children were a little anxious when they saw a stranger following them around with a camera. I absolutely enjoy photographing children. The trust that you have to earn in order to have them relax in front of the camera truly requires creativity. This is a challenge to some artists but not me. As a mom, I've learnt tons of creative ways to ensure that children enjoy photoshoots. I bring my entire kid-friendly toolkit with me and a few minutes into the shoot, children ease up and start having fun.
This was the case with the Makonis. The kids quickly took to the photoshoot and had tons of fun and then it was the adults having a hard time catching up with them! It was a real pleasure spending time with this amazingly bubbly and loving family. The mom and dad exuded such love for each other, which made it easy to encapsulate those warm and tender moments between husband and wife. This was one of my favorite shoots and I am looking forward to many others!

After previously photographing Rufaro during an impromptu photo shoot here, Rufaro and I decided to scheduled a 'proper' photo shoot. This time, we photographed Rufaro and her husband - Prosper. They wanted to memorialize their moments as a couple before the arrival of their child.
On the day of the shoot, it rained so much that all I could hope for was good lighting #lestruggle! After the rain cleared, the lighting did not disappoint! All the right elements fell into place as we took shots of this growing family. As always, Rufaro glowed and her husband beamed with so much love for her and their unborn child. This was one of those priceless moments that cannot be manufactured in photoshop! I absolutely live for these shots where I click away as the clients forget that someone is watching their every move.
I absolutely enjoyed this session and want to congratulate this family on welcoming their baby boy into the world!

Yvette and Raphael are a couple that I met when my little family and I moved back to Harare from Uganda. We automatically clicked! Our friendship is one where you feel as though you have known each other for years. Its Yvette's ease at loving people, her genuine spirit, bright smile and willingness to help that make her such a special friend to us.
This photo shoot of her and her husband was a long awaited one. We had talked about it for a long time but had never really picked a time to actually shoot. On the day of the photoshoot, it rained cats and dogs and this went on into the night. Day one was a major flop! On day two, however, we scheduled an early morning shoot and the weather was just perfect. The lighting was a photographer's dream and as for the couple, I will let the pictures do the talking. Lets just say day two for the win!
Thank you both for believing in me and allowing me to record the essence of your love.

I always want to photograph moments that are dear, pure and innocent. To me, pictures bring out an individual's soul and they can also speak volumes! These were my emotions as I photographed Rufaro. She exuded such a glow and made pregnancy look effortless and fabulous.
Pregnancy is an experience that differs from one woman to another. I remember while pregnant with both of my girls, some days were easier than others. There were days when all I wanted to do was to close my eyes and open them when I was at my ninth month and ready to give birth! Across the board, when pregnant, there are those iconic moments a woman experiences like hearing the baby’s heart beat or the first kicks that are milestones never to be forgotten. All in all, it’s a reminder of the blessing that is being carried, which is innocent and a gift from God.
I felt all these emotions as I photographed Rufaro. Empathizing with all that she was going through both physically and emotionally, I ensured that this shoot was special. I ensured that Rufaro felt comfortable and celebrated through every frame!
I invite you to rejoice with me in the blessing that is motherhood!
Rufaro truly radiated so much beauty and strength throughout the photo shoot that once we wrapped, we immediately scheduled a couple's photo shoot with her hubby. Stay tuned for that post!
